Culturally Safe Care

Medical students must develop the knowledge and skills to drive improvements and equity in health outcomes for First Nations peoples and provide culturally safe care – and continue this learning throughout their career. This will also make them better doctors for everyone.

The long-standing and continuing strong commitment of Medical Deans and medical schools in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand to this student learning journey is articulated in our 2021 Indigenous Health Strategy, and reflected in our work to establish, and continue to support and partners with the Leaders in Indigenous Medical Education (LIME) Network.
