Supporting our Member Schools

Central to Medical Deans work is supporting our member schools in their work to ensure excellence in medical education and learning for students and developing the future doctors our communities need. This is led by our Medical Education Collaborative Committee (MECC) with representation from all 24 members. 

All schools are focused on meeting the standards set by the Australian Medical Council, with programs often varying in aspects such as curriculum design, course structure, assessment approaches, and clinical placements which encourages a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.  

This mixture of different approaches to the shared goal fosters a close community of practice amongst the medical educators, to explore and share examples of good practice, common challenges, new ideas, co-creation of resources and initiatives, collaborative research, and access sound advice and insights. 

Related Communities of Practice

An extensive and active Network of Medical Education Leads in Australia and New Zealand (MELANZ) who connect to share information, experiences, ideas and resources via a dedicated Medical Deans’ Basecamp portal, and who are a source of advice and insights to the Medical Education Collaborative Committee.
